The Latest from Nosy Be

We are almost halfway through 2018, so it is time for a Nosy Be ministry update with prayer requests:

  • Our team has grown… we have been joined by the Mayle family, who have finally settled down in their new village after going through an extended transition. Shawn and Angie, who are both nurses, hope to establish a community health ministry. And the Bracy family have moved into their new house in a village where our team previously held several evangelistic “gatherings.” Jordan and Laura hope to build on the previous gatherings, start teaching and discipleship ministries, and jumpstart our Bible translation project. We are excited that our team’s area of influence in Nosy Be is expanding. Later this year we will be joined by Caleb and Whitney Wiley, Lord willing. They will live in our village and help with ongoing ministries, especially the recording studio. How you can pray: for all of these families; living in Madagascar is hard! Pray for their marriages, their children, and their spiritual life. Pray for God to use them to bring people into saving faith.

  • Mama Vao Vao, the small business project started by Rebe and some women in the village, continues to grow. They have formed a leadership committee and Rebe has begun delegating more responsibility to them. Many of the women have been coming to the church plant on Sundays. How you can pray: for the women of Mama Vao Vao; that they would catch the vision for sustainable small business. Pray that MVV would be a tool that God would use to bring these women and their families into saving faith.

  • Our two church plants, in Ambatozavavy and Bemonondrohely, recently held a joint service where we baptized new believers and took our first communion together. How you can pray: for all of the new believers in these two villages; that they would be continually strengthened in the word. Also, please pray for additional church planters to join our team.

  • Our family is looking forward to the next few months, as June brings with it cool weather. We are in a homeschool transition; Camden begins 9th grade in August, and we have enrolled both him and Myla in The Potter’s School, a live online virtual school. We hope this move will bring a better balance to our daily family life. How you can pray: for our family; our marriage, our parenting, our spiritual lives, and our children. Pray for this adjustment in our children’s schooling. And pray that we would be a family that lives out our faith in front of our neighbors.
