Do Not Worry
Many things have been happening on the island recently… birthdays, new projects, and new team members. We have also been preparing to host a missionary retreat starting next week. But while all of this has been going on, Ladis and the other guys spend most of their days in the studio, creating and recording new songs. They are slowly learning the in’s and out’s of everything that goes into recording music. I want to share with you one of their latest creations.
Kaza Miasa Loha (Do Not Worry – or – Do Not Be Anxious) comes from the end of Matthew 6, where Jesus is in the middle of a big speech to his disciples on the nature of life in the kingdom. Ladis came to me a few weeks back and said he wanted to write a song from this section of Matthew; he wanted to make sure he understood the main point of the passage, so we looked at it together. This passage really comes alive in a village context, where some of our neighbors literally may not have something to eat, or drink, or clothes to wear tomorrow. Life here is a day-to-day, do-what-you-can-to-get-by existence for MANY people, and Ladis sees this passage from Matthew as an important one to encourage his fellow new believers. Here is Kaza Miasa Loha, with the lyrics below:
Do Not Worry
Our Father in heaven already knows our needs
Our Father in heaven already knows the plans in our minds
Do not worry about tomorrow
We grow in our faith by trusting in God
Do not worry about life
About the clothes you wear, or the food you eat
Or your life itself, or what you willdrink
He will provide you with these things, do not worry
Refrain:
Seek first the kingdom of heaven
And His righteousness
And these things will be provided for you
All of them, He will provide you with these things
Our Father already knows our needs
Our Father already knows the plans in our minds
Do not worry about tomorrow
We grow in our faith by trusting in God
We become people of faith by trusting in God
Do not worry about life
About the clothes you wear, or the food you eat
Or your life itself, or what you willdrink
He will provide you with these things, do not worry
Kaza Miasa Loha
Fa hain’ny Baba an-dagnitry agny raha ilaigny
Fa hain’ny Baba an-dagnitry agny raha kasaigny
Aza miasa loha amin’ny amaray
Hitombo finoagna atsika hatoky Zagnahary
Aza miasa loha amy fahignana
Ndray lamba sikinigny, ndray hany ahoanigny
Ndray vatagnategna zegny, ndray rano giahigny
Amiagnanao fagnampiny, k’aza miasa loha ehhhh
Refrain:
Tsakaraha antsendriky ny fanjakan’ny lagnitry
Ndraiky fahamarignananany
Fa amiagnanao fagnampiny
Jiaby, amiagnanao fagnampiny jiaby
Fa hain’ny Baba raha ilaigny
Fa hain’ny Baba raha kasaigny
Aza miasa loha amin’ny amaray
Hitombo finoagna atsika hatoky Zagnahary
Ho manam-pinoagna atsika hatoky Zagnahary
Aza miasa loha amy fahignana
Ndray lamba sikinigny, ndray hany ahoanigny
Ndray vatagnategna zegny, ndray rano giahigny
Amiagnanao fagnampiny, k’aza miasa loha ehhhh
I love it!! Their voices are delightful, the harmonies perfect, and it’s thrilling to hear these words in Sakalava! I’ll be listening to this all day. 🙂
